White 5100 planter repair

The depth wheel arms on my planter are very sloppy(loose) on the pivot shaft. It's one of the first ones built, newer ones have replaceable bushings on the arms at the pivot points, mine doesn't. They are so loose that when I was planting beans last Saturday, one of the depth wheels plugged up with cornstalks and I had to come in to get something to dig it out. I went to the Agco dealer in Riverside, Ia and got bushings for 1 row, 2 bushings for each arm. I took the arms and bushings to work and showed them to one of the machinists. He measured, then core drilled and reamed the holes to fit the bushings. I got home and mowed yard until it rained, then I pressed the 2 bushings in with Locktite on them. Put them on the planter to see if it helped. The shafts that the arms fasten to are wore some, but they are much better than they were. I greased them until the grease came out and then took them off, the outside end of the shafts are wore more than the inside, so the grease went to the outside bushing and not much to the inside one. I took them off and will take them back and have him drill and tap another hole for a grease zerk on the inside bearing also. This should get everything lubed up OK. Now that I know this will work, I'll call back to Riverside and have them get me enough bushings for 3 more rows and fix all of them. No pictures yet, but when I do the rest, I'll get some pictures and post them of the process. Chris
