Putting bearings in a NH 256 gearbox

Just got this rake, they said the gears were stripped. Got the cover off and gears look ok, I think the bearing that is on the driveshaft is gone and the gears not meshing. Can anyone tell me if any special tools are needed to put new bearings in this box. I figure if is apart go ahead and do them all. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

If it's slipping check the hub and bevel gear. Also check the spring and make sure it's engaging all the way. Hand pack the 2 lower ones and then fill'er up with gun grease. Good Luck.

That main shaft with the gear made on it was around $260 from New Holland last summer. Put one in for a neighbor. If you only need bearings, that will be great. I do not know if there is an aftermarket supplier for the gears.

I spoke too soon. Got this thing out of the degrease tank and all apart. The bearings are not the problem its the shaft with the small gear going out to the star wheel. Not stripped just worn into a bit of a concave. just wondering what would have caused it. Maybe running it with bad bearings? Thanks
