JD 3pt hitch corn chopper

My cousin has the opportunity to buy a 3pt hitch JD
corn chopper that he wants to run on his 2030,(for
fun of course). I was just wondering if anyone
knows anything about them because it's the only
one we've ever seen. No decals are visible so I'm
not sure what model it is. All the other farms in our
area bought the New Holland 707. Also do these
choppers compare well with the 707 new holland?
Thanks

Model 25 maybe? I've seen two in my life, one on a used lot and one in use. The one in use looked like it was doing a good job.

One of my Uncles milked around 30 cows for 45 years and the 3 point hitch, one row JD was the only chopper I ever remember him owning, it was fast because he only had one wagon and he would fill both his silos in a couple days in between all of his other work.

They and the NH 707 were not found very often around here. Either seemed to be a hill farm staple. In this area guys always managed to keep their harvesters up to date and on the large side if possible. One decent self-unloading wagon plus a couple of other "runners" plus a blower that usually was on the worn out side.

A neighbor had, our possibly even still has a jd one, for use on the muddy years when a pull type would side track and just help get stuck. Saw a NH one sell last year for around $700 or so.

How about a Kemper? They were a cute little thing. This one's for sale on CL.

We used one for several years. It proved to be a decent unit. The head did not work well in really short corn. But for anything approaching normal corn the head worked quite well. It was a well built unit with almost no breakdowns for the few years we used it. JD 25 or NH 707, take your pick. Didn't seem to take a lot of power to run.
