Overrunning Coupler

Just put PTO over running coupler on my tractor. I may need to trim the PTO shaft to fit. Cat 1. How much space is needed from the end of the PTO coupler and the end of the PTO shaft when fully retracted? Is 2 inches enough? Don't want it to bottom out and cause damage!

Hard to say,
I would disconnect the pto shaft from the tractor, then raise the implement. You should have at least 2 to 3 inches of free play with the implement fully raised.

Be sure the implement is adjusted at the proper working angle, not kicked back.

You should cut off both ends of the pto shaft, not all off only one end.
