draw bar heightening a plow

I need to set up on cement and mock up plowing and see where my hitch is loaded up at like they show in the book. What do you guys have for a hitch height? It's a john deere 44 plow .

I run a #44 behind an A John Deere and M Farmall. The plow hitch is all the way down and tractor hitch, if parked level in the driveway, is between 13 and 15 inches off the ground. This works for me plowing at 5-7 inches deep. The only real reason to raise the plow hitch is if it's dragging on the ground because you're plowing awful deep.

What I would like to ask is what do you have in that engine that you can pull 2-14" with? 2-12", No. 52 will pull easier and that is all a 46 B, same engine, could pull in best of conditions. The engine was factory and not wore out. I had this outfit that I bought in 63 to 68.

Leroy it's a 39 B with 4 5/8 bore m&m pistons and some aluminum welded on top . Nothing special , I did pull on a down hill portion in third gear .

That is quite a bit of an increase in size and commpression. the orignal 4 1/2" to 4 5/8" is quite a bit, the later B tractors were 4 11/16" and compression for gas instead of kerosine and could pull that plow. How many horses are you putting out? Orignal on that tractor was about 20 with the later B's at 28, almost half again as much.

Haven't dynoed it . We have some good dirt sandy loan plows nice . My plow is still scouring so still trying to get it set . Might plow Friday again.
