Anyone using a Daros or Morra 2 basket tedder? Like, hate - experiences with it, recommendation?

Any comments much appreciated.

Thanks!

I bought the Morra 2L 2 basket quite a while back. It's 3 pt and I reworked it to suit me. Maybe I didn't know how to use it as I never had one before and now thinking back a couple of things seem different.

I had a problem with the tires dragging as I turned a corner but thinking about it, I should have lifted the implement in a turn and put it back down. Then when finishing up, do the X on the field to pick up the turns. Currently mine has no wheels and I can tedder through 90 degree turns.

Second thing I did was that I felt that the arms to which the axles were attached were too long making the tedder high in the rear and reducing the coverage area significantly. The thing is 9' wide but I couldn't ted. a 6' swath. So by removing the wheels and shortening the arms, the tedder could operate in more of a horizontal position and cover at least the width of the tractor.

It works fine now. I did notice this year that I broke off some of the tynes. Had a problem locating some to fit that smaller model but I did and they should be here in a couple of days. Had no problems with the drive system even though the PTO drive is oil bath and the basket drives are greased.

yup, 3pt tedder requires lifting to turn it. If I am in a field that requires going round and round as opposed to "lands" I make a 270 degree turn. Lands are easier since you just follow the swathes.

Tedder should run at an angle with the lead tines just grazing the stubble. The wheels act as gauge wheels. Tedder will actually throw hay up in the air and spread it nicely.

If yours couldn't ted a 6' swath there was definitely something wrong. 8' 6" working width Kuhn will grab TWO 5-disc mower swathes (mower has swath wheels that narrow the swath up) if you drive on the crop.
