Going to look at a 467 silage special baler. I will only be using it for dry hay will I need to change anything on it for dry hay or will it start the bale ok like it is. I really don t need a silage special but want a baler that makes a 4 x 6 bale so they haul on an 8 ft wide trailer. Are the 467 balers a good reliable baler ?

Silage baler will work fine in dry hay. I've owned two JD 467 rd balers. They're the best I've owned of all the others. 1st 467(twine only) I traded with 30,000 bales for one with Netwrap than now has 18,995 bales on monitor. My neighbor whom has owned both 467 & 468 balers states there's little difference in the baling ability of the 2 models

I have worked on John Deere balers for over 25 years and feel that the xx7 series balers are the top of the class . As Tx Jim says the silage package on that machine will not affect its performance in dry hay, just get a nice windrow in front of you and hang on.....they devour hay.

One of the custom balers I hire has a 467 silage special. He doesn't make any changes that I've ever seen, going from high moisture to dry hay. Makes good tight bales and has good capacity. Get the net wrap -saves lots of time.
