International grain drill

I bought an old international grain drill to use in my dove field. Its a 13 row. I there a place to
buy new springs and other parts because these seem to be fairly weak. Its also a single disc.

What model?

Keep in mind if you have a decent trash free seedbed, you will likely be able to plant as is. We've kept a tired old steel wheel IH drill going for years, as long as the meters work and the tubes and boots/disks are some what working and you have a drag chain behind you will still plant with it.

I think its a 5100 or 510. Last year it did ok. It just needs some TLC . Well alot
actually. My field was a first year dove field that used to be a hay field. I did plow it
and disc and rented a tiller for my tractor and even went over it with that also. All the
grass and weeds are not completely dead and gone. Im sure it would do better if it was
just plain dirt.

Those drills weren't meant to plant in trash, so even if it was brand new you likely wouldn't have fun planting with it.

Yes im kinda figureing that out. Me and a buddy thought this would work after we plowed and disc it
up pretty good not thinking or knowing it would do alot better in good clean dirt. But I only paid
400 for it and thats alot cheaper than one of those no till drills.

What about a Model 10? Was that the predecessor to the 510? I just picked up one that looks in good shape for a low price. Will I be able to find parts, if needed? It's 9 feet wide, single discs and drag chains behind. All of the chains don't look exactly the same, but they are all there. Do I need an operator manual and should I look for one on eBay? I'd like to use it to plant oats and rye, maybe 10-12 acres per year.
