Hello everyone, I was just wanted to get some info on this (what I believe is) Dearborn-Wood Bros. corn picker.
I have no use for it, and looking to see if there is any value to it, interests, ect..

Thanks for your time.

We had a few back in the day. That one looks like an early one. The later ones had what we called a squirrel cage over the husking bed. It turned similar to an auger to pull the corn over the rolls instead of having that chain. You always knew when the corn was too wet because it wouldn't slide around that 180° turn to go up the elevator.
I don't know if there's any value or interest in those or not. I haven't seen one sell in years. I'd think though that if you could get $150 out of it you'd be doing good.

I just bought one identical.Excellent shape, used very little.I will totally restore and take to shows with my restored'39 9n.Not many
left.Ask $500.00,see what happens.I'd buy yours if we were closer.

That is a Dearborm-Wood Bros built after 1948. Earlier models were only Wood Bros and were Grey with 2 different versions of them. The first was sold for use with the Fordson tractor, second came out at around 42, not sure of exact year but is in product book for 43-44 2N tractor and pictures in there show it behind a 9N. Last of the Dearborn would have been in 1955 when they started putting the Ford name on things instead of Dearborn. I have one of the later grey units that needs restoring, bought it to take to shows with my 1944 2N Dad bought new in May of 44. If you check around the last few years any single row picker in usuable shape has been going very high in price. Several years ago while I had this woodbros neighbor wanted ear corn so sold it to him. Was going to use the Woodbros to pick and did a bit before it broke. But was at a consignment sale and a Good Oliver No 5 came up and I bought it for $35 and used it to pick rest of corn for him.Few years later sold it to a hundred mile away for over $200, do not remember exact amountn now it seems as tho that Oliver picker if they can be found they are asking a thousand for. So yes there is a market for usuable single row pickers.

I bought one of these pickers right after high school (2003), unfortunately I can't recall what I paid but it was not much. It was going to be scrapped otherwise and was in as good condition as yours so I just couldn't let that happen. Had it for a few years but never got to use it, ended up selling to a couple from northern Missouri for $200-300 I believe. I wish I hadn't sold it. I suspect you might be able to get $300 or so, maybe a little more. If you were closer I'd be interested, I assume you're in Indiana. Best of luck.

I would be interested in your picker depending on where you are located. This model was originally used on the 8N Ford Tractor and would like to have it to go behind one of my Fords. Let me know please.

Wow, thanks for all the info and quick reply's.
Interesting info Leroy..

I am located in Memphis, IN. About 20 miles North of Louisville.

I plan on selling, after reading the posts I think around $300 sounds fair?

Kyle I tried to send you a private message but it says "disabled."
Also, it shows no email address on your profile.
I may be overlooking something as I am new to this site.
Sorry

I have a front end loader if needed.

Thanks

I think I have a manual for that. I will check. Email me if interested.
I remember the manual was printed in 1948.
