response to spring plowing a few pages back

Parts of the southern plains have sandy soil that drifts like snow in the wind. Some places have clay soil down under that if plowed deep enough will bring up the clay and stabilize it. progressive farmer or farm journal had a picture of a giant disk plow somewhere in Texas I believe. Plowed 2 to 3 feet deep as needed. If I remember right, it was a special built self propelled rig. Anybody else remember that article.

I remember a similar article. Only this one told of a single moldboard that went 5 ft deep and was pulled by two D8 cats.It was used in California,Texas,Florida (and other places) to bring the good soil back to the surface after it was deeply buried by flooding or dust storms.

Just in TX by Seminole and Lamasea I run into those big disc plows. The local farmer was telling me they used them for pulling the clay back up into the sand to help keep it from blowing. It had about a 5 ft disc blade on it. This was 20years ago.
