With that type of steering it is a JD 145 plow. A very common JD plow.

Now for your broken moldboard. There are several bottoms used on a JD plow of that age. You will need to post a part number off the back of one and we can tell what bottom you have.

OK I'll look for the number how I can tell what width my shares are I've done a little looking and there's a bunch of different sizes .

The backbone beam was different on the 1450 wasn't it? I think the 1450 had a square tube that was made of one piece. The F145 had a beam that looked like two pieces of channel welded together like in the picture.

Is pretty easy to drop a bottom from this and it will be more practical also you will not need as many parts..
There is no Rear Land-Slide and adjustable "Heel" on it and Cover Boards are always preferred..
Sure looks like an F-145..they plow good if in decent shape..
Shoups had by far the best prices on plow Parts and may even give you Free Shipping...
Nice people..

Definitely an F145. They plow OK if you don't have any trash. If you have trash, you'll spend more time knocking out the plugs than you will plowing. I plowed with an F145 5-16s for years and still have one as a backup. I'll take my IH 720 5-18s any day of the week over the F145.

But collectors like them.

Well I got on Tyler the plow guy site and think I have a 16 inch hs bottom with a stubble bottom sure hope he will post his knowledge on here . Buy the time I pay shipping at screwp I can get it at john deere with free shipping and itll say john deere on it .

If you're looking to get an F145 to use, you should start with a different one. Just from those two pictures, this one has problems. The front moldboard, obviously, but also the steering rods are bent up, the hitch is bent up, and I'm sure all the wear parts are junk. You'll have $800 in wear parts on this plow pretty fast. Here in SW WI, you can pick up just about any F145 for under $800 ready to go plowing. I still own my 5-16 because it is worth more than $800 to me as a backup. It has a hillside hitch and a gauge wheel.

Oh, and get you a gauge wheel. They should have been standard equipment on these plows.

Also, if you're gonna go plowing in rocky ground, make for sure all the trips work. If they're seized and you hit something unmoveable, you'll break the trip parts, or the whole bottom off.

It can do a good job. Here's my plowing in 12" tall wheat that wasn't gonna make a crop. This field gets very rocky at the back and I was tripping the bottoms constantly, which can get very aggravating as you have to back up to reset the bottoms. I was using it because I broke my old 720 plow, which had auto reset. It saved my backside, which is why I still own it. I since bought another 720, so it's back to backup -

I live a long ways from sw wi .I wish I did life
closer I see lots of nice small equipment in the
eastern part of the country where there is almost
none here .I ripped plenty of bottoms off plenty
of plows in rocks and just hard dry clay .

Yes, it's an F145H made in the 1960's. You have HS bottoms and if the moldboard has 3 bolts along the bottom edge next to the share, they're 16" bottoms. Don't assume that the bottoms are 16" as 14" bottoms have been installed on 16" frames and vice-versa.

I have all new wear parts for this plow should you want it. Price Deere and shipping looks pretty cheap for the difference.
I've got some good used 16" HS pars as another option as well.

I've never seen a frog bent like the one on the rear bottom in the photo...not really sure how that happened...aside from Jethro with a really big chisel and hammer getting really excited.

Anyway, I hope this was helpful...
Let me know if you need anything else.

20 dollars for the hole works ? And do you have a used moldboard preferably with holes for the extension ?

I looked and only have moldboards without the extension holes (used). The only other possibility is to disassemble a bottom for parts...but that might take me a week or so to find time to do it. Used = half price of new.

Shipping is correct when I'm competing against someone else with free shipping.

Well shoup dont ship for free west of Wyoming for any amount size of order .if they don't need my business I'll go somewhere else . See if you csm find a used one we'll go from there
