I have an old 485 jd haybine.it was built in the sixties not a newer one.last fall the lower roller had a bearing go bad on the tongue side.I got the bearing placed back in and everything mounted up and checked but when I put the chain back on it had a lot of slack.I ran it anyway.it worked for a while but the chqin came back off.I talked to a guy and we decided the chain was not installed correctly.does anyone have a good photo or diagrams of how it dhould be on the gears.any help is appreciated

After watching a "new 480" go around a field with parts that were flying off while cutting hay it's hard to imagine one of it's predecessors is still operating.

Maybe this will help you
