looking at 18' 12,000# bumper car trailers , want opinions on HULL brand and CAR HAULER Brand by Forest River . which is the better trailer ? both are in the same price range all opinions appreciated. THANKS

Really cant say. But you can figure it out yourself.Crawl under and around. Look at weld quality,grindings,axles/suspension,frame strength,wireing/lighting,general quality of manufacture. You can tell pretty quick which one is better. They may even be a 'draw'.......

How could you do that when the dealer would have to order the one you wanted in as would not have them on lot to examine. That size would not be stocked but made upon order, not like the small lawn mower trailers that the stores keep on hand. But made by same company could be just paint color different. Or possibly a different type of light.

You're right. You would have to have the trailer in front of you.Or you could inspect other sizes to get a 'feel' of the quality. But I have never "bought" trailer. But I've seen some that had some pretty crappy workmanship.

Have you ever looked at PJ trailer, Johnson Trailers. Kaufman trailer, Liberty trailer, Sure Trac, Beaver creek trailer and there are others if you use your computer to look for them and find dealer in your area. The ones I listed above all make car haulers and they all run very close in price.

One thing that often varies is the spacing on the cross pieces....some are 18 inches, some 24. Check thickness of steel used as well.

One thing you can do is to go to their web site, select the trailer on each web you would order and then compare the specifications, i.e frame members, cross members, brakes, tires, axles, etc.

My biggest worry on heavy duty trailers is if you get a flat when loaded, will the frame where the jack goes lift the trailer and load without bending the frame. Of course you can always put lumber under the good tire and either back or pull the good tire upon the lumber to change the flat tire. Again, lots of psi on the frame connectors. Biggest/strongest frame wins my vote.
