Shimming the knotters on a JD 24 T Baler

Is there anyone on here that has experience with setting up the knotters on the shaft. I got a baler with broken knotter frames and I have a good set of knotters off of a rusted out baler. Thanks

I removed and reinstalled the knotters on the 336 that I used to have. You are shimming in one dimension only. The only thing that matters is that when the needles come up that the twine disc can catch the twine from the needle. What I did was tie the needles in position so that the tip was near the knotter, then put in what appeared to be the right number of shims, then tested the travel of the needle. Then you see weather you need to add or remove shims.

I don't know anything about JD knotters, but on NH knotters I have used the the clamp type spacers to take the endplay out of the knotters. and it has worked ok.
