hauling disc mower in pickup truck

didnt get the mower at the auction but going to look at a kuhn 600 in the morning. this one is a good ways off so dont want to take the gas hog and trailer to just look at it without knowing if its in good enough shape to buy. if i like it i may try to haul it in the back of the truck, anyone ever done this? is a 7'10" mower and i think it will be about 13'6" overall and the truck bed is 8' with tailgate. im thinking take a couple 2x10s and lay under the cutter bar for support past the tailgate and stap the cutter bar to the 2x10s. i dont think it will hurt anything do yall?

have you ever used one of those bed extenders that go in the receiver hitch and for a support back behind the tailgate, I built my own but there are many places to buy them also some are adjustable for height and distance back. I have a pic of one just so you get the idea

i hauled mine in an 8 ft box... if you put the head stock against the front of the bed, then the bed of the mower can hang out the back of the box no problem... with a short bx, some good plank or a bed extender would help, plank might be hard to secure properly if you have major highways to travel on...

if they can fold the machine for transport, then lay it in the box on the mower bed, that would shorten it up some... might not even protrude past the tailgate then... tying the things down is probably the hardest thing, not much to secure it to, either on the mower or the truck box...

I maybe wrong but think there are 2 600's...one you can remove the cutter heads to replace without taking bar apart and one you have to take bar apart..the 600 hd, you can take cutter head out with out taking cutter bar apart...but saying that have had 3 700hd's here and never had to replace cutter heads or any part of cutter bar gears, just changed gear oil regular
