Roller chain

On my pre WW2 MM corn sheller, it calls for roller chain No.
433. Question, is that the same as No.40? I cannot seem to find
433 chain.

The pitch may be the same. But the width is probably different.Maybe you can find a 'chart' that will list chain 'sizes'.

Is that on the left side?

I ran into something odd there, chain broke, went to splice it and keep going, and it was an odd width. Took it to a few supply places, couldn't find a number, they had never seen anything like it.

Regular worked on mine, but couldn't splice had to replace it all.

IMHO, 40 and 41 chain have the same pitch, 1/2", but different widths.

I can't remember if #41 is wider or narrower than #40, but you might check to see if #41 is similar to what you need.

This chain is on the right side. It is driven off the countershaft and drives the cleaning fan. It is the only roller chain on the sheller. This is an MM B2.
Never have seen a chain like it...it is entirely made up of connecting links with the little pins and cotter pins. Weird.
The parts book manual calls it a No. 433 roller chain.

It wasn't unusual "back in the day" for all links to be cotter keyed vs. a "riveted" chain.

Do you require a cotter keyed chain or are you looking for a chain that will fit and function.

What is the pitch (center-to-center distance between neighboring pins).

What is the roller WIDTH?

If you can't find a chain, try teplacing the sprockets with a similiar size and put a new chain on it that will fit and that you can replace easily. You can probably find them at a TSC or many welding shops.

Try this place. I've dealt with them before, reasonable, knowledgable and friendly.

If they don't have it I bet they've heard of it and know what will replace it.
