Can you buy round axels for old disc harrows. I need one that is 1 inch diameter and about 40 inches long? Thanks Amo

Shoup Manufactureing carrys replacenent axles.If it's in cataloge,they can custom build one.I would also talk to a local welding/machine shop.They should be able to easily make one.

A round 1" would be easily made by anyone with a lathe. They are nothing special as far as steel. So good bar stock would work with a head welded on and threads chased on the other end.

Agri Supply has an array of parts for old disc harrows. I have bought numerous things from them including these types of parts. Only objection I have is their freight is high. Parts are inexpensive and first rate.

Any good local welding shop should be able to make one or have an old one laying around that could be shortened.

I assume your talking about a disc, NOT a harrow, as ive never seen a combination in my day of the 2, other than as written in books, tho I imagine they have them now.

Yep, get you a 1in rod of good steel, take it to a welder with the end piece if any that should be a cast iron piece of smaller circular shape if on the inside, and let him make a head on the rod end to fit that inside cast piece. Then have him weld a bolt with the head and shank cut off on the outside end, and your ready to go. Be WAY cheaper than the shipping of a ready made rod
