tractor size for nh 575 baler

It depends how fast you want to feed it. 3010 would be at the low end of the power range but I think if you are not in a hurry you could make it work. They will eat material if you put the power to it. I've seen a 1466 on one puffing away and that baler put bales out without an issue.

My neighbor pulls one with a Ford 4000, and has for years. Probably doesn't get all of it's capacity, but he puts a lot of hay through it

55 hp will run the baler.. Have you ever tore out a PTO?? I have doing the same thing with a 348 jd. Jd actually says less hp but it goes on nothing less than a 4020 now. That plunger will take the rear out of that 3010 in time and it will break when your doing hay.

I help a neighbor put up 15,000 yearly bales with a 575 on a 7700.Sometimes a 5000 is used. No problems with either. However in real heavy hay the 5000 'grunt' a bit more and need a bit more throttle.I've also pulled a similar (283/425) with a SuperM. So that 3010 will be adequet. There are guys out there who seem to think you need minimum 100 horse for baleing. That is simply not true.

4020,maybe you need 100 horse so you can bale in 5th .That 3010 will be in 3rd/4th.So he puts more strokes per bale. Who cares.

If you need 100 horse to run a small baler, you're cramming hay through way too fast. Massey Ferguson 65 165 265 have been popular baling tractors around here for years. I've put a lot of hay through a 315 NH and a 347 JD, on a 265 and never had any trouble

looks like some will tell you anything. a square balor dont need 100 hp to run in fact i have baled thousands on bales with jd 1020 and 3600 fords thing to watch for is u ennd big enpough tractor to hold your load back with 18 ft wagon fullyou need more like 6600 ford or a 6300 jd sise tractor but if droping on ground 3600 sise tractor in fine

That should have said "How fast do you need to make bales and how steep are your hills"?

Google search hp requirement for a 575. They tell you 75 hp minimum. 4020 is about a perfect match. Make sure your slip clutch is adjusted. 575 is 2 x that 315.

"So he bales 100 acres a yr with that set up? How much of it gets rained on?"

Depends quite a bit on the weather.

i use a 165 diesel on a 310 nh. baler 50 hp tractor no wagons just baler barely knows its even back there. i use to use a to30 ferguson on a nh 68 baler.little touchy but got the job done.

I ran my 575 with a MF 180 for years, about 65 hp, no hills , no wagons, no accumulator, coastal grass hay. Never a problem.

(quoted from post at 07:13:11 01/30/15) 55 hp will run the baler.. That plunger will take the rear out of that 3010 in time and it will break when your doing hay.

A sq baler similar to a 348 will not tear the rear out of a 3010 especially if the ""slip clutch on baler isn't stuck and properly adjusted"". BUT JD 3010's have a long history of being operated with the pto stub shaft mounting bolts loose which will cause a pto problem even pulling a light load such as JD sickle mower. Back when sq balers were sold with power units IIRC the 4 cyl Wisconsin engine was 27 HP.

I pull my JD 347 with a 65 pto HP Kubota and before that with a 45 pto HP Kubota with no problems.

I just looked at JD & NH websites

This is JD's tractor specifications for a 348
Tractor Requirements
PTO Speed, rpm 540 rpm
Minimum PTO, hp 35 hp

NH BC 5060 is 62 pto HP & NH BC 5070 is 75 pto HP

I ran mine on a 3020 powershift. Going uphill with a nearly full bale. I was in first gear. Worked the snot out of it. BUT it got the job done. My 4020 or the 4320, makes life much better. Gary
