Stuck spindles on EZ trail gear

Spent most of the afternoon with a big drift and the torch heating and beating to get them driven out. Not a fun job.10 lb sledge, don't think they moved but a 1/16 each blow. Now any tips on cleaning the inside of the pipe clean to keep this from happening again. Looking forward to finally having a quality haywagon with the telescoping tongue . Going to paint it and get new decals and build a white oak bed. Thanks

We had the same trouble with a David Bradleyear. Lots of heat, work spindle back and forth and pounding to get it apart.

While we had it apart, we drilled and tapped for a grease zerk. Cleaned the sleeve and greased before re-assembly. A shot of grease once in awhile and it stayed loose. Keep it full of grease and that will keep the moisture out of the sleeve.

A dingle ball hone will clean up the bore. I use brake fluid as lube, then wash with water.

I was thinking along the same lines of a hone for the bore, and then emery cloth on the spindle. If no zerk, make a spot for one.

PB Blasters original purpose, per one of the first cans I ever bought, was softening hardened grease. I know it worked on the Case running gear spindles I used it on. I pumped it in with a grease gun.
