How much to rebuild a Hyd. cyl.

Got a Dunham Lehr Loader with the single cylinder to tilt the bucket. Does anybody know what it should cost to rebuild that small cylinder . Do I have to know who made that cylinder in order to get the seals etc. Thanks

Depends more on how long it takes to disassemble than any other factor. Some older cylinders are a real challenge to get apart.

Very hard to say. Years ago we had a shop not all that far away that if you took it apart they would do the new seals and put it back together and would most of the time cost less then $50. Shop closed up so still looking for another shop to do them. Heard of a shop close by but been told just for the guy to look at one cost you a picture of Franklin

It's not hard to rebuild a hydraulic cylinder yourself. When I worked in the Mines, we rebuilt all of our own cylinders, even fabricated some from scratch. We got all of our parts from HYDRAULIC DEPOT. Google "Hydraulic Depot", their Main Plant is in North Carolina but they have other shops across the Country.

I know this is an older post but it also depends on the condition of the polish rod. If it is all pitted and rusted up you will keep eating the seals up.

I rebuilt one on a hay cutter couple years ago and it just had O-rings and I had a large kit with the correct size. So it cost me about $1.50.

Some have different seals made of different material in them. I had another on a rotary cutter that had a strange polymer seal and it was $45 dollars by its self.

None are real difficult to rebuild. Hope this helps.
