Hesston 4600 small square baler

I have a 4600 coming to the shop to put bearings in the plunger and I am not familiar with the inlines but do I have to pull the plunger? I do remember you can see the bearings from the outside but didnt know if you could get to them. Thanks

We just did the bearings on our 4650 inline last week and had to pull the plunger. I assume it is the same on a 4600. Pull wedges, the cheese grater like things, hold the hay dogs outside the chamber with large washers, and remove bale skis if equipped. Make sure bale tension system is above and below the top and bottom of the chamber. Unbolt plunger from arm at the front, push towards rear. Use 1 1/8 wrench on front nut of plunger to hold it up as it goes toward rear. It helps to have two people for this. Keep pushing until it gets to rear of bale chamber. Pull plunger out and replace bearings. Might as well sharpen plunger knives while its out. Put in in reverse order of removal.

This may have been more info then you needed but I figured while it was fresh in my mind I would put it out there in case anyone else came looking for the procedure.
