This is a front end loader off of an 8 in Ford tractor it is complete with hydraulic pump and reservoir. I am trying to find out if this loader is usable on a 1948 8N...

Not sure how to answer this but ill try. 8N to 8N should work
but the first 8N wasn't made until 1947. So I'm thinking it might be a 2N. And Im not sure if the loader would fit.

9N made 1939 to 1942
2N made 1942 to 1947
8N made 1948 to 1952

All the "N" tractors are pretty much dimensionally the same so I would think a loader would fit any of the 3 assuming it fit any one of them to begin with. Really there is very little difference between a 9N and a 2N. Basically Ford being the sheister he was got the model # changed so he could circumvent price freezes during the war and raise prices on an otherwise identical tractor by claiming it was a new model. 8N saw more significant improvements but still fundamentally similar.

8n to 8n then yes they will work. 9n and some 2n had
a different axle carrier so a different front
bracket may have been used. Can you post or email me
a photo of the tractors and loader. if you are
buying the loader and it's a front pump you will
also need the front crankshaft pulley to be included
in the deal.
