IH 430 Baler

I tuned up my knotters this past summer and they worked good. None of the ties are coming apart on the bales I'm handling now for feed.
I did notice when I was baling every once in awhile the baler would not tie 2 bales in a row. It was like it missed the first bale and it took the second bale to reset. Always 2 in a row. No singles. I wished I would have inspected the twine as it was happening but just kept moving ahead of the weather. Any thoughts as to what may be causing this?

We had a 430 baler that was not a bad hay most days with a sharp knife. But straw was a whole different animal. In fact it was a piece of junk. While working with a local IH dealer the owner was known as the best baler man in the area. His theory on the 430s was a cheaper casting used in the knotter than the previous model balers. There were obvious wear points that were throwing those knotters just a touch out of time. At that time they were wortyh enough to justify replacing and that cured them.

If your missing 2 in a row, it is usually pulling the twine out of the twine disk holder. Tighten that spring up just a bit.

Thanks for the input. The twine may be slipping out of the disc. I wonder in my tension was set to tight. I do remember the twine breaking before the needles a time or two.
