Saw this posted on Craigslist, asking $295. It's been sitting out for several years and the guy believes it's stuck. Seed box is straight and doesn't appear to be rusted out. Is it worth messing with? I just want a cheap drill for overseeding pasture and eventually planting wheat, barley, oats, etc. Offer $150 take it or leave it? Its about an hour from me.

I think I'd grab it for what they're asking if it was near me. It has the small seed box for alfalfa.

I had to go free up BIL's drill that he let set outside over winter. I had to use the acetaline torch to heat each feed sprocket while putting a twisting force on the feed shaft with a 12" Crescent to break each feed sprocket loose. Be careful not too much pressure on the shaft when heating.

Then I oiled it good and told BIL to oil it good after seeding or put it inside the shed.

Before I bought it, I would check to see if the bottom of the box is wood. They will rot out and it's quite a job to disassemble the box to make a new bottom.

(quoted from post at 14:24:28 12/18/14) Before I bought it, I would check to see if the bottom of the box is wood. They will rot out and it's quite a job to disassemble the box to make a new bottom.

I asked about the wood bottom and he said it looked solid when he opened the seed box lids.

$200 took it. He's happy someone is going to attempt to get it functional again rather than fill it with dirt and grow flowers in it.

Never say that model, All around here are wood box with fertilizer and usually a 13-7 or 12-8 spacing, And those in decent condition will on dealers lot be $800, I have found and bought several for a couple of dealers I work with. Have a Superior 8-8 that I need to get ready to go to field for dealer.

i have same drill very popular around here central Illinois. Used mine on oats and alfalfa seeding does excelant job. one side has wood in bottom rotted that's what feed bags and duct tape are for pluggged hole and keept drilling. My small seeder locked up once I filled it with used oil let it set a month then worked it back and forth with pipe wrench it freed up only problem I had was the lift arms are a pain and I'm not sure how to adjust it for soybeans neighbor said it needs bean cups so you dont over populate beans I never tried it on beans
