John Deere Serial location

Does anyone know where JD stamped the serial number on their "F" series plow frames? I've looked over the F125 plow I picked up last weekend and I haven't found it yet.

I was thinking they may have marked it in some manner, maybe a date of manufacture if they weren't using a serial number. It's early 60's fab, might not have any markings.

I have several JD plows including an F620. As far as I know, JD never put serial numbers on their plows. The JD plow parts manuals do give the years a particular model of plow was built. Al

Any paint at all left on it? And implement model markings were painted on the same as the name, same yellow.

Deere didn't give their plows Serial Numbers until
the early 1970's (think 1971/72 time frame). Your
F125 wasn't made after about 1968/69 so it is out
of that range. I sure wish they would have given
them sn's but that's they way it goes. The only JD
plows with SN's prior to the 1970's and up were
those made for the Yakima 2000 or 2100 tool
carriers (aka, yakima hitch...built in Yakima,
Washington).

By the way, when they finally put serial tags on
the plows they didn't look the same as what
you're thinking...more like stamped heavy foil
with an adhesive backing; not riveted on like many
other implements/ tractors/ engines.
