NH 489 Haybine

Looks like we've got to replace rollers on a good NH 489. Boy they cost. Found NH479, are the rollers interchangeable?

How bad is the 479? I think they were a better
machine anyway. I think the rollers will swap but it
looks like alot of work.

Used to be a guy on here routinely. Haven't seen him in a long while. He was a some type of service guy for NH. My understanding is that is not a DIY project. Rollers are costly. I have never owned a NH haybine because of it.

Thanks for the info... hard decision time....

I think I'd run it instead of parting it out. The
rolls on my 479 aren't great but it still mows hay. I mowed nearly 100 acres with mine last summer.

The rolls can be recovered cheaper than buying new from NH. Our
neighbour bought new rolls for their 489, the bearings were
expensive too. All told with labour she could have bought 2 other
489's. This one is pretty beat to start with.

Once reinstalled, you still have a 489, not my favourite machine.
