New Idea Sprocket Needed

I hope someone can help.

My neighbor broke the throw out sprocket on his New Idea 329 Super Sheller. Sprocket p/n is 308316. It is on the throw out assembly. It is 14 tooth. It runs a 2050 chain. We could use the chain also. Item 29 in Scan.

Any help would be great.

Have you checked with an Agco dealer, while never cheap, they do keep a pretty good inventory of parts still.

Thanks Paul. We have checked with the dealer and many dealers that used to handle New Idea. Even the salvage yards are coming up dry. I see another gentleman gave me a lead. I will check that. Thanks. Paul

I should never haul anything to the crusher should I? I scrapped one of those shellers a few years ago.

Those 329 super shellers work really nice. It is just too bad it is getting hard to find parts for them.
Thanks. Paul

Is it used on the husker unit at all. So if you look through yards you can check those units too, or is it unique to the sheller?

Just trying to help, I'm sure you've done all that already.

Paul

Cannot see that good in the picture what it looks like. Do you have the busted part or is it lost? From what it looks like in what I can see in the picture it looks like a good machine shop could make a steel one as looks like orignal was probably cast. The busted piece would serve as a pattern.

Thanks Paul. My neighbor has the husking unit also, he checked and it was different. Great idea though.

We will likely try and get one fabricated.

Thanks again. Paul.

Paul have you tried L&M salvage in Richland Center. 608 647-3490. They have a lot of stuff.

Ya,mine worked fine,I just didn't need it and nobody wanted it. I bought a 12 roll husking bed at an auction and swapped it over on to that base unit. The sheller sat here until I was tired of looking at it.

Hello Bob, I just found your reply but I will check tomorrow. We have put a plan in motion. See my reply above. Thanks. Paul

Thanks to everyone for you responses. Agco does not have this part anymore. We checked many many possibilities today. At the end of the day we took it to a machine shop, Chaseburg Manufacturing in Coon Valley WI. The part is all cast with a bushing. The center also has the throw out ramps. They are going to cutout the center by machining off the teeth and more (a ring), make new sprocket teeth on a ring on a flame cutter and then braze the two together. They were real helpful. They were going to make the drawings for the flame cutter tonight, machine the teeth off, and flame cut the ring and teeth in the morning and then braze it together. Should have it tomorrow late.
Anyway, that is the plan. Thanks.

http://www.applied.com/

Try applied Technologies, they carry all kinds of bearings and sprockets. You may have to take the old one off and use the good old calipers, but I bet they can find something for you, they have saved my bacon several times, most times american made, and cheaper than the no longer available part from New Idea....

Thanks Leo. The machine shop was able to save the hub and flame cut sprocket teeth. Then they brazed it together. I will keep these references for future use. Thanks again. Paul
