we got it home wed. giving it a oil bath until wed. next. when I will be back @ farm

I did see the bar move, that a good thing

no belts, what oil just to see if it works & where do u put it in also how much.

how will I know if it junk ? open gear boxes?

You should be ablr to turn it by hand to try the cutter bar but probably not for the clutch lift as that will require quite a bit of power and the slower run the harder to lift. Not mucg to take apart, take top cover off to see what inside conditions are like and when off clean it out good and refill with fresh 90 weight gear oil. If clutch does not work it will usuably be a broken spring or crud. The one I junked had the rear bearing go out. When that did and was run way too long like that it tore up the other gears.
