KM25 Drum Mower?

I just found a KM 25 drum mower at an auction I will be at tomorrow. Anyone know if these are any good? I tried looking them up but cant find much except for blades and a manual. It doesn't seem to be in the best shape but the curtain looks pretty good and I am in bad need of a mower (My sickle mower went out on me). What do I look for in a drum mower? What do I check? Any price ideas? And yes, I know disc mowers are nice too but that is not my question, I just want to know about this particular mower. Thanks.
 
Start by telling us what the manufacturer is. I bought a new 2555 SFI 52" drum mower Two years ago. It's been a very good machine. So I don't know what to look for in a used one. If you can spin the drums and don't see any wobble I would think that would indicate any bent or problem areas. You already know about the blades. I'd see if there are any dealer for that make. bjr
 
They are pretty easy to spin over by hand. Be careful but you should be able to turn the drive shaft enough to make the discs turn. If they are free and there isn't a bearing grinding it would probably be worth taking a chance on. There really isn't that much that can go wrong with them. Once you use it you won't care what happened to your sickle bar. They are pretty heavy though and you may need to add weight to the nose of your tractor. No problem if you have a loader.
 
I know it is a little late for any advise. Did you buy the mower?
I don’t know that particular machine but from those drum mowers I have seen (friend of mine had a Deutz-Fahr and I have a Kverneland myself) I would check out the big disches which the mower slides on. They can be cracked or worn paper thin which could indicate the condition of the machine in general. Could be difficult to get a proper look at though as the mower is probably sitting on them.
