IH 370 disk blades question

I have a IH 370 approximately 12 foot disk (9 blades on each gangbolt) and the blades need replacing. I purchased it about 10 years ago and the blades were new. The previous owner doesn't remember if the blades were 18" or 20". The front blades are below 16" and the rears are around 18". What size blades to I want to replace them with? 18" or 20"?. I want to think they are 20 inch blades are the rear ones are only 18" since I've used it this long of time, but I could be wrong. Did IH typically use the same size blades when they made these disks? Or, was it a customer's preference? Any assistance is always appreciated.

Hi Tx Jim, I believe you are right. Thanks for your response. Would you recommend blades from Shoup or another vendor?

Shoup's or ASC. I put blades on my big disc last year, and ASC even threw in the shipping. The cost was about 1/3 of JD's, and the blades and bearings were here in two days UPS...

Sounds like you have a 9" blade spacing so 18" is already close to being wore out, if a 7" and your number of blades per axle doesn't sound like that you can get by with smaller blades. You could only put new 20" blades on the front and get by for a few years if those back blades are still realy close to the 18". Figure 2 sets of blades for front to every set on the back to different rates of wear. Even if you would only replace the fronts with 18" it would seem like you had gotten a different disk as it would cut that much better But if you go to all new 20" you will be supprised at the difference in work it will do, you will do in one pass what it currently takes 3 to get done. But save those biggest blades for incase you break one down the line. Does the 370 have the flat centers like the 37 had"? You can replace those with standard blades.

sounds like you've got the same disk as me. could have come new with several sizes, but we replaced with 20" last time. save two of the wore out rear blades to put on outside rear, to minimize the ditch it leaves behind.
