How do you check the shocks on a truck? I have 54,000 miles on a Dodge 2006 Ram 2500, just put new tires on it. Thanks Amo

we always bounced on the bumpers. If it bounced up & down twice it needed new shocks.

I have a 2005 ram 2500, at 60k miles I replaced the shocks. I pull a camper, when I would go over a bump the truck should only bounce once, mine was bouncing 2 or 3 times.
New heavy duty shocks made it ride and drive much better.

The old trick of bouncing on the bumper doesn't really work too well on a 3/4 ton or heavier truck. Usually the springs are so stiff that you can't get any kind of real movement started.

Replaced the shocks & struts on the Tundra at 115,000 miles. I only drive the truck about 2,500 miles per year so guess I won't ever have to do that job again.

Drive it down a washboard gravel road. If one or more shocks is bad you will know real fast. The bad corner will bounce more. Be careful.
