I cant read the seed chart on the back of the planter box lid. Is there anywhere that I can find to see it? Also, theres supposed to be a spring on it that goes somewhere. IF anybody knows about these planters, would you describe the length and dia of this spring?

A picture would help. I have an earthway garden planter but I'm sure it's completely different. Without a seed chart you may have to do like my dad used to do with the corn planter-- test run it on the driveway to check for seed spacing.

Cole Planter currently makes the Planet Jr. I don't know how much difference there is in the new machines vs your model, but there is a manual .pdf posted on their site if that helps. They should be good for parts, too.

Here is a site for Woodward Crossings. They are in Center Hall PA but, on their site they have a PDF version of the Planet Jr. manual that you can download and print out. There is a copy of the seed chart in the manual.

We have a plant jr mounted on a bracket we made for a Farmall A to check the spacing we figured the circumference of the wheel(one rotation)that equals that far. Then we just put the plate that seeds just fall though, turn the wheel when lifted and hand under. If it looks like a good amount for that length: run it. we don't use the cover(Its around someplace) because we are constantly switching seed, and it get in the way. As far as spring I don't know the exact size. It is AROUND 1/2 dia. and 6in long stretch type.

IS this spring the lid spring, OR a spring I have read about on some models that holds the coverer down?
What are the curved hooks for 2, that are either side of the measuring drop piece rod?

you must have a older model. The one I have doesn't have a spring on the lid. The top sits on the tub/bin like a cookie jar. The spring I have is for the coverer holder/"shock". I don't know about the hooks. if you had a picture of yours someone might be able to give a little more help.

I am sorry about this confusion. I was just out to the shed; With this post on my mind. I played with the planter for the first time since last planting in spring. There are three springs on it one long compression spring(around 3/4x 10) for holding the pack wheel down. The second is a shock spring on the left(from behind) so the planer moves without jarring the mount. This one is around 1x 4 stretch type. The third spring (the one I mentioned) is for flow control. it pulls the flow shut as the drive wheel lifts, then stretches the rest of travel once shut off. Again sorry about the confusion.

curse my worthless mind. NOT SHUT it should be OPEN if the lift unit is set down to far or the wheel lifts it stretches and the flow is open. I looked and thought as the tub was upside down.
