plugged heider auger wagon

I pulled a dumb one yesterday while augering corn from our heider auger wagon. Let the corn pile up to the spout and I think it jammed up the auger before I could shut off the pto. Tried backing it off with pipe wrench with no luck. It just kills the tractor when I try to engage pto. Just a poor running 574. Neighbor has 966 that I could put on her, but don't want to break anything. Any ideas appreciated. Really not wanting to scoop that whole load. Thanks.

Most likely that 966 WILL break something. In fact, your 574 should either make it move OR break something. Time to get the scoop shovel fired up.

I don't know anything about that machine but just wondering. On combines there is a opening withe either a removeable plate or door to open just for when things like that happen and that drains the auger. May have to lay a tarp to catch grain if don't have good clean floor to do it on.

I agree with the trap door on the bottom idea. If this is the version with the long swinging auger, there should be a shear bolt on the pto. If not, you may have broke a gear in one of the gear boxes. There is a cover on each one that unbolts to inspect and replace gears. Also, you should have a clamp holding the auger assembly to the wagon. You should be able to remove the whole auger off the wagon pretty easy and just run the bottom auger to run the load out. Good luck and keep us posted!

Do you know anyone who has one of the small electric augers you could stick into a wagon or such and auger grain into another wagon without doing a lot of scooping?
