It looks like the hay head from an older Gehl chopper. Also looks like someone took the drum with the teeth out. My dad had one of these that he used with a Gehl FH83 chopper back in the 50s. Al

AJB is rite, it is the pickup head from a late 40 s to early 50 s Gehl chopper. Gehl BROS mfg.co, West Bend Wis. clint

Yes, these guys have it. It's a very early hay pickup head for a forage harvester. There should be a small, oval-shaped brass ID tag on it somewhere. Is that it in the top photo? It kind of looks like a corroded tag, above & just a hair to the right of the bottom-center of the photo.... by the drive chain in the A-frame.

Ayup, a windrow pickup head for a Gehl chopper! I drove a truck beside one with a 4 cylinder Continental Red Seal power unit. They pulled it with a Farmall F-14. That was the summer of '55, when I was 16!
