Need help identifying and adding a hydraulic controller

I have an IH 234 compact tractor with a front loader, and I would like to add a 3rd hydraulic function for a grapple. Can anybody tell me if this is an open or closed hydraulic system? If not, how can I determine which it is? Can I tap into the control valves on this system and add a single spool valve, or would it be better to replace the current control valves with a new 3 spool unit? I've never worked with hydraulics before, so any help would be appreciated. I'm going to attempt to upload 4 pics to help identify the control valve that I have. I cannot find any identifying markings on it.

An easy way to tell if they are open or closed center valves is that an open center valve will generally have a pressure relief valve incorporated into the unit. If you take the capnut off that is sticking out by your hydraulic levers, you will probably find an adjustable screw under it. That is your pressure relief valve. You can also take the valve off the tractor and if you can blow air through it from the pump inlet to the return outlet with the levers in the neutral position, it is an open center. If you cant, then it is a closed center. Yes, you can stack another single valve with those, but it tends to take up a lot of space and will look somewhat cobbled. If I were you, I would just bite the bullet and buy a new 3 spool valve. If you do buy a new valve, make sure you order one with the correct port thread style you need. It looks like you have Oring fittings instead of standard pipe thread.

Simple way to determine if a control valve is open or closed center is to disconnect return hose from tractor and with control levers in NEUTRAL start engine. If open center oil will flow out return hose,if closed center no oil will flow out return hose.

Thank you for your replies. That's very helpful. I think I'll get a new setup as you suggested. Are there pro's / con's to a joystick for the bucket vs 2 controllers?
