Round baler plugging in corn stalks

Help! My agco 5134 plugs when half full of corn stalks! Any ideas to help it keep feeding? The stalks were chopped 2 days ago and raked yesterday. Bale starts good and fills to half or better than plugs. Thanks for your help! Oh baler has baled less than 300 bales since new, belts seem good.

Is it the material plugging where it is fed into the bale chamber or is it the bale getting stuck in the chamber? I know nothing about corn stalks (we never bale them here) but my Hesston won’t bale straw that has gotten too crumbled. Half size the bale gets stuck because it is too fluent and the increased friction between the bale and the sides of the chamber stops it from rotating. I have been baling and would burn my hand if I held it on the side panel of the baler. I have never found a solution of this problem other than baling in the morning or evening when the material is damp from the dew.

Some balers do not like dry shredded corn stalks. Try it out in the morning when the stalks are a little tough. Some times that will let them flow into the baler better.

I have a 504 I Silage baler. It has two baby moon disks bolted to the sides where the hay comes through the throat. Took them out one time and the sides got real hot and it pulled a lot harder. Put them back in and they have not been out since. Bales are not as pretty on the sides with them in.

JD balers have a round bar across the top of the mouth with half a dozen give or take curved fingers attached that protrude into the mouth, hang down in the rear whose job it is to put weight on stemmy crops forcing them down and prevent just such an occurrence.

Ding TX. Jim on this and he can probably pull up an IPB showing a picture of the thing.
