what model sickle bar mower and where to get parts

I picked up this old sickle bar mower and am thinking about tuning it up to use around the stone walls and other places I don't want to take the bush hog. I know it is an international but not sure of the model or where to get parts. I am thinking it needs a new pitman arm, knives and rock guards / ledgers? Do I have to go with the single rock guards or can I put doubles on and what are the advantages to each? I have never seen a sickle bar with doubles but mowers have doubles why?

looks like ih 1100 we have guards sections pitmans etc single guards will do fine call link_disallowed days ask for larry

Don't believe that is an 1100 mower. Unless there is an 1100 mower out there that has a wood pitman. At first I thought it was a 1300 until I saw the pitman. It is similar to the #28 mowers in my brochures but their are differences. Afraid I cannot tell you what it is because it is newer than than any sales literature I have on hand.

would the rock guards and knives would be the same regardless of the model? Or did international change somewhere along the way?

It is an IH.Have you thought of talking to your local IH dealer? Shoup Manufactureing will have cutting parts, maybe even pitmans.

It's a model 230. All the cutter-bar & standard wear parts can be had at most places that have aftermarket parts for IH mowers. CaseIH still stocks those parts, too. The pitman is also available through Case. The double guards are a bit thinner than your standard guard & can let more crop pass through. Also, there's no ledger plate to replace. Once they wear down, chuck 'em & get new ones.

Hope this helps.

If you are going to be in rocky ground, get the guards like the 1's on there now. You will probably have to fill the sickle with new sections. Be sure to get the chromed ones. They are harder than the regular mild steel 1's. I've gone to bolt on sections and would never go back to using rivets. If you get your sickle and bar up in shape it should make you a good mower.
