JD f125 gauge wheel

Is this just a steel bar for gauge wheel or something special. As you can see the spokes broke, I am going to build a whole new one with a pneumatic tire. With the help of my son and his shop class at school. I am using a spindle with a weight rating of 1100lbs,should work shouldn't it? Thanks, Jim

You can build one out of several things. I have rebuilt the spokes with heavier rods or small pipe.

The real issue is you need to set your plow so it does not put that much down pressure on the gauge wheel.

I wonder just how they gave the new spindle a "weight rating"?

I would look for a Hub with at least a 1" diameter and weld it well, on the adjustable bar.
Width of new wheel and tire will determine the necessary Stub length.

There may well be times that more than 1,500# could be encountered, especially if it encounters a rock.

Ron.

The spindle I bought is 1in in diameter. I think what we are going to do is cut the old spindle off flush then bore a hole to fit new spindle and weld it in. Thanks,Jim

I have a pneumatic tire and wheel assembly of off a F125 plow. The rim is a bit rough but looks serviceable. I would let it go reasonably if you are interested.

I have one of those pneumatic style. The rim is a bit rough and the tire is flat. I would let it go reasonably priced if you are interested.

by the looks of things I'd guess the bearing broke or locked up causing the spokes to shear off in that fashion?

If your tractor has load and depth control the wheel isn't really needed. (The tractor controls the depth, not the wheel.) It is used only on tractors that do not have that feature. Mike
