Ford Sq baler with auger feed

Does anyone have one of these and are they any good. I found one and the plunger is stuck , but I think it would be OK parts machine. I have never seen one before as it has a short auger and a kind of arm that swings inward packing the hay in.

We had one. That arm cracked loose from the shaft that pushes it in and out. Seems like we welded that thing back on at least once a year. It would break loose when it was all the way in the chamber and the plunger would hit it,naturally.

I have one, have used it for over 20 years. It does not make a very heavy bale 40 to 45 pounds. Usually put up over 1200 a year sometimes over 2000. Never had a problem with the sweep arm breaking off. the plunger runs on adjustable angle iron on the outside of the baler. you could try loosening up the adjusting bolts and pulling the angle back from the plunger and see if it loosens up. It will not handle a heavy windrow very well. and in a light windrow I always kept the hay to the outside so the auger would have a chance to build a nice slug for the sweep arm to take into the chamber. I have a book (well worn) I could try making a copy if you need it.

I ended up with a bunch of nos parts for those balers including those feed fingers. The knotters were made by IH

I have two of those old balers setting in the fence row. One is older than the other, it has more chains than belts.
