Square Baler Wagon hitches, offset or centered

Just got a centered hitch from EZ Trail for my 311 New Holland to use their Hay basket. NH have offset hitch and JD has centered hitch. Just wondering if there is any reason to have one or the other, if just pulling a wagon.

Offset hitch swings clear of the wagon on rt hand turns, which were (are) nearly all turns. But you must swing chute up on lt hand turn, at outside windrow.

I don't really have an answer, but our Massey #12 had a hitch that swings and will go either of to the side, or centered. We have it offset so we can get the pin out easier.

I do not care for the hitch centered on the chute. More difficult to hook up the wagon. The NH offset is also handy if you want to do something with the knotters underway.

Depends where you want the wagon to track in relation to tractor/baler and where the person stacking likes to load wagon from. I always kept the hitch offset on the #9 MF, center chute to wagon and wagon pretty well followed in tractor tracks.

Hi Draftx, I have baled with both and prefer the offset as the outer edge of wagon rack tracks inside the left rear tractor wheel. So going through gates or around electrical poles etc and turning right is always easier than the hitch inline with bale chamber.

My experience has been with wagon hitches on balers with kickers or throwers. My experience has been that they are always centered under the bale chamber! That said, some can be offset to the right to bring the wagon somewhat in line behind the baler when on the road.
