Source for Large Thrust Washers???

I have a Davenport wagon running gear. This is a high wheel, steel wheel running gear with bearings. I think it was one of the first wagons made with bearings. (Made about 1904? - 1917???)
At any rate I need some thrust washers with about a 2 7/8" inside diameter and 4 1/4" outside diameter and about 1/8" thick.
I've tried Fastenal and bearing houses. I'm afraid machine shops will be pricy.
Ideas? I don't weld or cut with a torch. kelly

google "thrust washers" or "thrust bearings" and you should be able to find something. Possibly and unground thrust bearing if you have room for the thickness. Lots of mail order bearing houses.

Used to be a heavy equipment mechanic. What you need is bucket shims, on an excavator they go between the stick tip and bucket, can get in many different thicknesses. I would guess the size you would need would about the size of a 200 JD or Cat 320. Stop at your nearest heavy equip. dealer and see if the can help you. Would be easiest to just measure the bucket pins of different machines until you find one with the right diameter, then order some for that machine. The dealer I worked for we had bins full of them, all sizes. Ross

Are you looking for true thrust washers, or just for steel spacer washers? If you need just plain steel washers the prices to have them laser cut isn't all that high. If, instead, your needing true bronze type thrust washers, try somewhere like Isostatic, or Symmco.

The links should take you to Isostatics general site, as well as to Symmco's site where they show a 2.875 Id x 3.875 x .250 thick. Their part number is ST-88124-8. It's a bit smaller on the OD than your looking for, but if you can live with it they make it.

Hope this helps.

Try Tractor Supply over in the section where they keep their 3 point hitch parts. I bought a large diameter washer from them recently to take up some slack in a front wheel bearing. The washers are in plastic bags.
