I recently purchased a two point IHC fast hitch full mount sickle mower. The former owner used it on a IHC 560. I planned on using it on a 606 with fast hitch. When I mounted it on the tractor I couldn't lift it high enough to clear the ground. Is there a difference between the mowers used on a row crop versus a utility tractor? Is there something wrong with my 606 that can be corrected? The mower is a pitman driven sickle. Can someone give me a probable model number for the mower and tell me what length pitman stick. The original stick has rotted into four pieces so I can't get an accurate length measurement.
Thank you for any information you can supply.

I find it interesting you're asking this question because just the other day I bought a Fast Hitch mower at an auction and have been researching what model number I have. In my searching I found the YT thread in this link that shed some light on the subject. In the second post from the bottom by Mark Peters he mentions a longer distance from the prongs to the ground on the mowers made for the utilites. This might help explain what you're finding but since I'm just learning about these mowers myself I have no personal knowledge here.

Like you the pitman on my machine is also rotten away. I have found a variety of sources for new ones, including eBay, but there were several lengths for the different models.

Thanks for the response Brendon. I followed up on the reference you mentioned. My mower has about a 12 inch drop on the lift arms. I had guessed that the row crop versions having the tractor higher off of the ground would need a deeper drop on the arms than a utility would need since is it closer to the ground. If IHC made different versions for different tractors I think I may have a problem I can't readily fix. What amount of drop do you have on your mower?

I don't have the measurement right now but here is a picture of what it looks like. Based on the tractors that were at the auction this mower was probably used on a 200.

My mower has several differences I can see. Mine has the pitman stick axle/pulley closer to the near end of the mower. Also the pto axle/pulley is mounted on a pivot with a large bolt than can be adjusted to tighten the drive belt. The springs that can adjust the ground tension appears to be the same.

I can tell you that in reading several different brochures on mowers from that era I have never seen a reference to a different mower being designed for utility vs row crop.

Hi it good be an IH C-28 mower. They were made in 1950s in 3pt and FH models. We had a 3pt version.

Google: pictures IH c-28 mower

and look at pictures. Newer model 100 had no pitman and belt drove a wobble head.
