Rumley trashing machine

Posting some pic of old trasher. If anyone needs parts or all of this let me know it is located in NW Okla. It will probably go to scrape.

My Mom said that her older brothers bought a Rumley tractor and Rumley threshing machine and went into the custom threshing business.

Mom's mother had died when Mom was 12. Her older brothers hired Mom and her older sister to cook for the men, using an old "cook car" that they pulled from darm to farm. Mom was 14, her older sister was 16. The girls worked 16 hour days to feed the men; in addition to the meat and potatoes meal, they had to bake pies for every meal!

After 2 years, her older brothers were both drafted for WWI, so they let the equipment go back to the finance company.

I didn't think they would draft all the men in one family. I had 3 uncles. 2 of them either joined or was drafted. One in army, one in Navy.

There were still plenty of boys left at home. Mom's mother died in childbirth with her 12th baby.

There were only 3 girls in the 11 surviving children but one of the girls passed away before she would have been a teenager.

All of the boys lived to an old age, except one of the two that went into WWI spent most of his remaining life in a VA care facility after he was discharged. The family story was that he had been gassed during the war, but my Dad said that he got into drugs when he was in the army that ruined his mind and body.
