ok got a planter this week JD 494 have some ??? is a 4 row disk openers,,need to know what plates to use for sunflowers..plastic plates in it now,,also like to get 4 new seed cans mine have some rust anyone know were to get some good used ones thanks cdv

Probably need a 16 cell, large flat. They're pretty big seeds...

Order a book from JohmDeere. They have reprints on just about every piece of equipment.That book is pretty important!!!That planter is pretty old.Odds of finding (good) buckets are pretty small.But...Jd used the 'same' bucket on several models of planters

Lincoln Ag Products makes the seed plates you're looking for. There are many cell sizes available so you need to know your seed size before you can determine which number you need. Also note that these plates must be used with a filler ring since they are much thinner than standard corn plates.
