when 336 jd baler has 4 rolls of strings in basket, and tied to the next full one, it wont stay tied when it goes through. Not sure if breaking knot or what. bale comes out untied.
any ideas or suggestions

If its comoing untied ate the splice, just tie s square knot and leave a 3-4" 'tail'.Wont hurt a thing.Plastisc seems to untie easier at the splice when you clip the 'tails' short. Also check twine guides,needles...There may be a deep groove worn that is catching and breaking the string.

when using sisal, I pull the square knot very tight both directions then trim the tails back tight. Mine almost never misses and we run 2ea JD 336 balers. Check the twine tension plates right at the twine box. It could be hanging up there. Next, check the eyes in the needles and make sure they don't have narrow groves worn in. I have noticed that if your knot happens to fall right where the bale knot is made, it probably will break. I would say that is normal but the odds are also very low.

I use poly twine and I do find it difficult to keep the know together... I tie a square knot and pull it as tight as possible, then trim the ends fairly close, then test the knot again. Re-tie if necessary... sometimes moving up from the end of the strings helps.
Also, check the needle eyes as others have mentioned. Worn eyes can cause a lot of trouble, not just changing balls...

often when I have problems I find that I got a bit of grease on the twine when I was tying it. Other things I have notices is if the little clamp on the side of the twine box that holds tension on the twine is a bit too tight it will allow the twine to work fine while running through, but messes with the not.

Deere recommends the sheet bend knot. It's in the baler owners manual or look it up online.I don't have a problem when using that knot on poly twine.Best regards

I always frazzle the two ends, roll them together and seal with a couple drops of super glue, makes a seamless joint.
