Cockshutt 246 cultvator hydraulic question ???

Can anyone tell me what size of hydraulic cylinder I need for a 246 Cockshutt? The one I have rounded up has the correct hoses, is about a 3" bore and the cylinder has 20" minimum and 28" maximum ram measurements. It will hook up fine, is this going to work for this particular implement? I'm not very handy to the rig so that's why I'm asking here.

Would seem to me the cylinder would be more appropriately matched to the impliment than the tractor. As long as tractor has enough oil reserve and pressure, the tractor wouldn't care.

Maybe I wasn"t clear or maybe I didn"t read your reply right. I"ve got lots of tractor, about 80 HP, I was just wondering if a cylinder of that bore with an 8" stroke would operate while mounted on a Cockshutt 246 cultivator, ie when extended to 28", the cultivator wheels would be in transport mode and when at the 20" in position, the cultivator shoes would be in digging mode.

That would be the correct size cylinder. Only question left is the cylinder a rated 1,500# cylinder pressure and tractor system rated at 2,000# presure or is cylinder rated for the tractor hydrolic pressure? Too low pressure cylinder and hoses could burst with a higher tractor pressure.
