preferred size of large square bales ?

I'm considering selling commercial amounts of hay as a cash crop and custom baling.
In you various areas of the world. What is the preferred size of 8ft long hay bale ? 3X3, 3X4 or 4X4 ?

Everyone around me have 3x4. The 4 foot wide works great with the gooseneck trailers.

I agree, they are excellent to stack.

3x4 or 4x4 we do all 4x4 the 3x3 are not heavy enough to stack or haul if your a trucking on a semi has been my experience anyway I don't like em you can get more weight on a semi in 3x4

I think they'll pretty much buy whatever size they can get here when they're desperate enough... but the preferred size, IIRC, is 3x4. That's because they stack better on your standard flatbed, 2 wide, 3 high. If you go to 4x4 you can't get the third lift on top. There's some going with the 3x3 as well and sneaking through over width... and they're not too bad about that... but it's still either a permit or a chance.

The 3x3 bales are actually only 32 inches wide so can stack three across and not be over width.
