New Holland 327 spreader

I am looking at a New Holland 327 spreader. I think I can get it for reasonable price. It does have a gear on the left side that has some teeth missing. I priced a new one from the dealer and it was around $600. Most of the NH spreaders I have seen have gears with issues. What else should I look out for?

In addition to the axle, check the shaft that the large gear is attached to. Where this shaft passes through the cast bearings, there might be substantial wear in the shaft and the cast bearing holders (this is the rear cross shaft that the floor chain sprockets are attached to). The driving pawls that move the large cast gear are probably worn as well. The floor chain will stretch with time too, and may need to be replaced ($). Hope this helps!

(quoted from post at 20:11:26 09/09/14) On any New Holland spreader, axle channel rot-through.

And the side angles that support the whole deal rot out too. IMO NH builds a pretty light spreader.
