sharpen cutoff saw

I have a ferguson cutoff saw for my 8n ford. can someone tell me the proper way to sharpen it? thanks.

The truly proper way is to take it to a saw shop and have it polished, set and sharpened. The make do way is to use a file and follow the angle on the tooth. If you've never done anything like that before, try Leonard Lees "Complete Book of Sharpening" available from Lee Valley Tools. Some folks with some experience get by with a 4" angle grinder, but they know what they are doing. The saw may also need setting, which is bending the tooth outward or inward for proper clearance.

A radial line from the center of the arbor hole should align with the front face of the tooth and the tooth should be filed to a 25-35 degree angle; The set is bending the tips of alternating teeth to where they will make a kerf wider than the blade. The name of this kind of a blade is called a cutoff saw and the rig, of the total piece of equipment is called a buzz saw.
