JD 535 baler gate cylinder

Hello i am working on a 535 baler and can"t figure out how to get the cylinder apart to reseal it. I thought it was held together by the circlip on the end but i still cannot get the push rod to come out. Any tricks or hints?

I think that you take the lower hydraulic fitting out and then there should be a snap ring on the bottom of the ram. You pop the snap ring down into a grove in the ram. Then it will pass the seal rings allowing you to pull it apart.

It has been years since I rebuilt a JD 535 gate cylinder.

IF I remember the JD rebuild kits has instructions with it.
